The Tegu Corporation, through its humanitarian efforts, is helping the Honduran community. Their mission...to bring a lasting change to the people, environment, and economy of Honduras. By establishing their independent factory outside of Tegucigalpa, they have created jobs.
Dedicated to responsible business practices, Tegu brings a new employment standard to Honduras. For example, they focus on developing long term career opportunities and growth, not merely task-based jobs. As a result, Tegu now employs over 200 hardworking people that earn a living wage to support and educate their families.
Environmental Sustainability
Tegu toys are made from an eco-friendly hardwood called Huesito (Spanish for “little bone”). This wood is readily available in the forests of Honduras and sustainable when harvested responsibly. Therefore making it is an ideal choice for the blocks, unlike other toy materials.
Tegu works with local Honduran cooperatives to help the forest’s natural regeneration process. They start with a mature tree, hand-picked, and collected from the abundant forests. Consequently, this ensures the forests remain plentiful for future generations. Also, to aid in the reforestation efforts, the Tegu company donates revenue to support the re-planting of trees. At least one tree for every set of Tegu blocks sold.
